It is important to harness Geographic Information System (GIS) to manage, analyze and leverage spatial data effectively when planning, monitoring, and evaluating programs and project. IDEAL Public Health and Development Consultancy (IPHDC) offers you an opportunity to acquire practical skills on designing systems and utilizing spatial data for decision making in project and program management.

Who should attend this training?
Programme staff of development and humanitarian agencies including project managers, officers and assistants.
What are the key aspects of the training?
- Introduction to GIS and GPS;
- GIS and project management including data collection, analysis and presentation;
- GIS database design Concepts - Application software;
- Application software - ArcGIS Practical - ArcGIS -Module package I;
- GIS projects - Individual work guided by instructors.
What are the main training objectives?
To provide trainees with skills for:
- GPS and GIS database design and development,
- Decision making based on spatial data,
- Basic and spatial data operations which are mostly hands-on and comprehensive overview needed to understand GIS and perform such spatial operations as display, query and analysis using ArcGIS software.
What learning approach and language will be used in the training?
An appropriate combination of various adult-learning facilitation paradigms will be used including exploratory learning, group discussions, plenary brainstorming, facilitator’s input, case studies and video documentaries among others.
The entire training will be facilitated in English.
